Beautiful, Affordable Golf Courses Dot Fayetteville’s Landscape

affordable, beautiful, courses, golf, landscape, recreation, sports,

If there are any folks around Fayetteville who know a thing or two about golf‚ it’s Jeff Goldner and Max Weinstein.

Goldner first began playing the game when he was 5 years old‚ and Weinstein was only 8 when his passion turned to the links.

So listen up when they tell you that Fayetteville has some of the most beautiful courses in the state of North Carolina.

“We have a little something for everyone here in the Fayetteville area when it comes to golf‚” says Goldner‚ the CEO of a senior healthcare company. “We have private courses‚ semi-private courses and public courses. We’re so close to Interstate 95 that we get quite a few folks out to our courses who are just passing through.”

But once they visit the courses around Fayetteville‚ they just keep coming back.

“Besides being beautiful courses‚ they’re reasonably priced compared to what you might find in Pinehurst or Myrtle Beach‚” says Weinstein.

There are more than a dozen courses in the Fayetteville area‚ not counting three set aside for military personnel.

Whether it is the Davis Love III-designed Anderson Creek Golf Club‚ voted the best new course in North Carolina in 2001 by North Carolina Magazine‚ or King’s Grant‚ voted the No. 1 course in Cumberland County by readers of the Fayetteville Observer‚ Fayetteville is a gold mine for golfers.

There are wonderful links such as Gates Four‚ a Willard Byrd-designed course with winding streams and wooden bridges gracing the 18-hole layout‚ and Tobacco Road‚ built out of an old sand quarry and voted the best new course in North Carolina in 1999.

Similar praise could be lavished on Baywood‚ Cypress Lakes‚ Hope Mills‚ Ole Bluff‚ Highland‚ Baywood‚ Keith Hills‚ Carolina Lakes and Bayonet at Puppy Creek.

“I may be biased‚ but I truly believe we have the type of courses that attract businesses‚” Goldner says. “Having such great courses in close proximity to Fayetteville is without a doubt very positive for our whole economic picture.”

And‚ for golfers like Weinstein and Goldner‚ there’s another advantage.

“With the weather we have here in Fayetteville‚ the courses are usually in good condition‚ and you can almost play the year round‚” Goldner says.

So‚ if you’re looking to play a round of golf and you just happen to be in the vicinity of Fayetteville‚ there’s sure to be a great course just around the corner.
